Getting started with the Goal Library
This article will help you understand what the Goal Library is, how you can add goal templates to the Library and how to edit and/or delete templates in the Library.

What is the Goal Library?
The Goal Library allows you to store templates so you can create programs much more quickly.
Instead of writing goals from scratch every time, or copy and pasting from Word or Excel documents, the Goal Library stores model goal templates that you can quickly update for each child using the goal editor. Here's an example of how quickly you can add goals once the template is in your Library:
You can store as many goals templates as you want, including multiple templates covering the same target objective (e.g., you could have several different variants of a "Points to request nearby object").
How can I add goal templates to the Goal Library?
Note: you must have the role type 'Owner' or 'Admin' to add, edit or delete templates from the Goal Library
There are three ways to add goal templates to the Goal Library:
- Upload your existing goal library via our 'Setup Concierge' service
- Add templates individually in the Goal Library
- Save goals you create for a client as a template for future use
1. Upload your existing goal library via our 'Setup Concierge' service
If you already have a goal library in another format (Word, Excel, etc.), you can use the Setup Concierge to upload your entire goal library at once (see here for how to access this).
2. Add templates individually in the Goal Library
This short video shows how to add goal templates individually - including some tips and tricks:
3. Save goals you create for a client as a template for future use
If you are creating a goal from scratch for a client you have the option to save a copy as a template to your goal library. This video shows how you can do this, along with one useful tip:
Tip: using 'ChildName' in templates to automatically update the client name
When creating goal templates you can use a simple trick to ensure the goal is always updated with the correct first name for the client.
Anywhere in the goal that you want a client name to appear, simply put ChildName (written exactly as shown). When you add this goal to a client's program ChildName will automatically be replaced by the first name of the client.
For example, take this Goal Description:
(A) During play and daily routines, when an adult holds up a preferred object just out of reach of ChildName
(B) ChildName will point to the object to request
(C) 80% of opportunities, across 10+ different objects, 3 consecutive sessions, with 3 or more adults
When you add this goal to a program for the client Harry Jones this will automatically update to:
(A) During play and daily routines, when an adult holds up a preferred object just out of reach of Harry
(B) Harry will point to the object to request
(C) 80% of opportunities, across 10+ different objects, 3 consecutive sessions, with 3 or more adults
