Organisation settings: default reporting methodology
This help article explains what the 'default reporting methodology' setting does and how to change it.
What does the setting control?
The setting controls the default method used to product progress reports.
Whichever of the three available progress reporting methodologies is set as the default will be the pre-selected option in the dropdown when you go to create a weekly progress chart for a client.
For example, the screenshot below shows the an organisation where the default is set to the 'Target Step' methodology:
Note: you can still use the dropdown to change the reporting methodology when producing reports. This setting only controls which methodology is shown as the default.
The three reporting methodology options
All of the methodologies are intended to let you graph and report a child's progress through their goals. They simply differ on the criteria used to graph progress. The three methodologies are:
- Target Step
- Highest Step Achieved with a ‘+’
- Highest Step with Data
1. Target Step
This charts the Target Step a client was on each week (see here for more on Target Steps).
If a child has multiple sessions in a week and the target step is different - for example they move up from Step 2 on Monday to Step 3 on Wednesday - then the highest step is used for reporting.
Tip: we recommend using the Target Step methodology because, when used properly, this methodology provides the clearest tracking of true progress over time, and is the easiest for parents and educators to understand.
2. Highest Step Achieved with a '+'
This charts the highest step where a '+' data point was collected during the week.
For example, if a client had a '+' against Step 2 for a goal and a '+/-' against Step 3 for the same goal in that week, then the chart will show Step 2 for that week.
3. Highest Step with any data
This charts the highest step where any data point was collected during the week (including 'NC', '-', '+/-' or '+'). This shows the highest step that was attempted for each goal in each week.
